🐶 Dogs35°C heat: this supermarket opens its doors to a stray dog – and the photo melts thousands of hearts
On a scorching day in Mexico, a small supermarket simply let a stray dog come inside. The pup stretched out on the cool floor – and fell fast asleep. A picture that travelled around the world.
A stray dog looking for help
Life is often hard for stray animals. With no home, they not only have to search for food and water every day, but are also left exposed to any kind of weather. We've heard time and again about dogs shivering in freezing cold – and shops that opened at night so the animals could warm up. But cold isn't the only danger: extreme heat is hard on dogs too.

At a small supermarket – an OXXO in hot Mexico – the same stray dog kept showing up. «He'd been coming to us for the past few days. We thought he'd been left behind by his owner. He came to us looking for help,» the store owner told The Dodo.

«All we could give him was food, water and a little toy – which we paid for out of our own pockets.» But on one especially hot day, the staff would go a step further.
