🗞️ GeneralThis Mini Horse Could Never Walk Properly – Until a Custom Wheelchair Changed Everything
Turbo was born with a severe knee condition and could barely move. Then a Connecticut sanctuary took him in – and an organization gave him the impossible: the ability to run.
A little horse with a big fighting spirit
Turbo is a miniature horse from the USA – and he has been fighting since birth. The young foal was born with bilateral patellar luxation, meaning his kneecaps sit at an awkward angle. The result: Turbo cannot bear his weight on his hind legs. Walking? For a long time, simply impossible.

When a shelter in North Haven, Connecticut heard about the little horse, the decision was made quickly. Co-founder Megan Pereira, a veterinarian herself, had established _Road to Refuge Farm Sanctuary_ to save farm animals from euthanasia – especially those with special needs and complex medical conditions. "I take care of the special needs animals, the injured animals, and the medically very demanding cases," Megan explains. Turbo was just two months old when he arrived at Road to Refuge.
