Two shy kittens from a New York backyard were too scared to go near people. Then dog Kona came along – and showed them the world isn't so frightening after all.
Two frightened kittens from a backyard
In a backyard in New York City, two little kittens were discovered – about ten to twelve weeks old. They were very shy and wouldn't let any human near them. The moment someone came close, they hid. Such a life is hard: no safe home, no cuddles, just fear of everything that moves.
Rescuers wanted to help the two. They carefully set up so-called humane traps – cages that don't hurt the animal but gently catch it so it can be helped. It took a lot of patience. About a week apart, the two kittens finally went into the traps and could be brought to safety.
From there they went to a rescue in New York City that gave them a chance at a better life. But one problem remained: the little ones had barely learned to trust people. They needed someone to gently show them that the world can be beautiful too.
