A dog that just wouldn't settle
Having a dog in the house is a blessing – they're loyal, loving companions, and sometimes they're so much more than that. Sometimes they're lifesavers. That's exactly what a family from Glastonbury, Connecticut, experienced in the most dramatic way imaginable.
Kelly Andrew is the owner of an eight-year-old Boston Terrier named Henry. Normally Henry is a well-behaved dog: tell him to leave the nursery alone, and he backs off and hides. But one night in December, everything was different.
The family's nine-month-old baby had a cold and was sleeping restlessly. And Henry – usually so obedient – suddenly behaved completely out of character. Again and again he pushed his way into the nursery and woke the sick baby. No sooner had Kelly settled the little one than the dog was back at the door.
Understandably, in the middle of the night Kelly slowly lost her patience. The baby was sick and needed sleep – and the dog simply wouldn't let her rest. «I was getting so fed up with my dog's behaviour,» she later admitted openly. She had no idea that Henry was doing the most important thing he would ever do.
